All About Braces
TYPES OF BRACES
Traditional orthodontic braces are available in a myriad of configurations and bracket types. Many people think that metal is the only option and are unaware that traditional braces can be affixed with various options such as white or clear brackets and bands, gold plated brackets and wires, and colorful bands.
Clear Braces
Clear acrylic braces are a popular choice for adults and late teens, as they blend in with the teeth extremely well, showing only a wire. They do not stain. They are used in conjunction with white or clear ligatures (small "o-rings" that hold the wire to the bracket) for a very sleek look. Ligatures can stain, however, they are changed out appointments every four to six weeks.
Metal braces
These are the traditional, "tried and true" braces we all know. They're very strong, and can be decorated with a seemingly infinite array of colored ligatures (small "o-rings" that hold the wire to the bracket). These are the most affordable and widely used types of braces.
